Seva, or Service in Action

One of the basic tenants of spiritual accomplishment is something called “seva” in the East, or “service” in the West. More than a list of specific acts performed, the notion of seva is the condition of an open heart. Not only can your seva benefit our organization, it facilitates Master’s work and blesses the one who offers the seva. Those who serve others with a grateful heart free themselves from the dictates of the lower self, which always puts its own needs above the needs of others, and/or the needs of Master. In other words, practicing seva is a time-tested method of dissolving selfishness.

Master has taught for years about the grace and merit that is beautifully accumulated with the offering of seva. Everyone is encouraged to actively offer seva in every moment of their lives, as well as at events offered by Master for His students. Providing seva at a retreat, seminar or workshop becomes a vital part of the retreat experience. Not only does it build spiritual character, it facilitates the flow of work and responsibility for the entire group. Indeed, offering seva to a Master is the most beautiful offering a heart can extend.

Seva provides an opportunity to help co-create an event and serve your spiritual brothers and sisters. Whether engaged in serving with various aspects of a retreat, offering service in the store, helping prepare materials for the event, greeting participants, preparing food, cleaning the dining area, providing shuttle services, or even running errands when needed, offering seva turns out to be an excellent way to share the energy of the workshop, providing a healing force for others and self. To offer seva chart for future events, please contact us at MasterDK.com to volunteer.
